The Pioneer: George Musick

In the latest family genealogy book, Musicks Across America (2016), we traced our ancestry from George Musick, Sr., and his wife, Ann. Technology has allowed us to learn more about other Musick lines beyond George and Ann, early Musicks in North America, and our ancestors in England. We hope to include more of that information in the next book.

Although George and Ann are not the earliest Musicks to be found in the “New World,” they have left an early paper trail of information that we can follow. We can research their property and court records, and read the last will and testament of George Musick Sr. recorded March 1754.

It is quite possible that there is more than one George Musick in early Virginia. Until more records are discovered, we will begin with our pioneer George and his wife Ann. Please read the pages from the Musicks Across America pages 5-23.

Children of George and Ann, Generation 2: Daniel Musick, G2-2; Ambrose Musick, G2-3, George Musick, Jr., G2-4; Abraham Musick, G2-5; Elizabeth Musick Trusty, G2-6; Agnes “Nan” Musick Lynes, G2-vi; Elexious Musick, G2-7, Kezia Musick, G2-viii; Ephraim Musick, G2-8. The children are shown in the order in which George listed them in his will and not their birth order. Birth dates are guesses unless otherwise noted. Also, no last name for Ann,, wife of George, has been proven.

The PDF below is his timeline from our family’s Ancestry tree. (Unfortunately, the relationship on all of the PDFs is my [Julie Musick] relationship to the subject)–sorry about that. I will edit out the relationship at some point.) The information was updated on 10 Sep 2025.

I have photographed some pages in the “Musicks Across America” book (2016. Musick Family Association) that mention George Sr., specifically pages 5-23. The whole book will be online soon.

Use the slides/arrows at the bottom left to move through the book. The last PDF of pages 20-21 is of George Musicks will separately.
